EDS funds Australian scholarships

Twelve Australian IT professionals will be returning to university thanks to scholarships provided by global outsourcer EDS.

The AU$700,000 program will see the successful candidates undertake a Graduate Certificate of Management at the Australian National University. The scholarships cover airfares, tuition costs and on-campus accommodation.

-We've had a very positive response across all the candidates," Kym Teh, general manager for economic development, strategy and innovation EDS told ZDNet Australia. -The candidates were very diverse, some were quite young, others were very experienced but wanted to change direction." For this reason EDS increased the number of scholarships from seven last year to 12 this year.

The course covers corporate strategy, marketing and management of people and organisations, with participants able to elect to study technology management, entrepreneurship, e-commerce and investment decision-making.

The scholarships are part of a package of industry development initiatives incorporated into the IT outsourcing agreement between EDS and the Australian Tax Office.
