Conference looks towards e-biz future

An Asian conference due to be staged shortly will discuss the region's place in the world of e-commerce, and the challenges it needs to overcome to succeed in the global marketplace.

Trends, strategies and the challenges that face e-business in the Asia Pacific region will be discussed at the second annual Asia Pacific IT Forum, hosted by IDC at SICEC, Singapore.

-E-commerce will surge in Asia over he next couple of years, opening a floodgate of opportunities for companies that are ready for e-business," Piyush Singh, Managing Director of IDC Asia Pacific said. He added, -The major learning point will be to understand the opportunities associated with e-business, gain insight into new business models and learn from the success and failures of leading players in crafting their strategy."

The conference will include a keynote speech from Dr. Michael Hawley of MIT's Media Lab. Senior executives and IDC's analysts will be discussing a variety of topics including; Asia role in the new economy, competing with global titans, convergence and financial services in B2B.

IDC predicts there will 1200 executives attending the event, which is being held between February 20-21, 2001.
