Computer fault blamed for Qantas flight alert

A computer malfunction has been blamed for an alert on a Qantas flight last year.

In a report recently released by the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB), it was revealed that an investigation by the company's maintenance staff confirmed that there was a malfunction of the upper yaw damper computer. -The unit was replaced and the system tested," the report stated.

An alert was issued on a Qantas 747 flight between Singapore and Sydney on November 13 last year.

A Qantas spokesperson confirmed that it was a Qantas aircraft, but refused to comment further on the report, except to say that it was factual and outlined what happened.
