NetVendor's technology allows manufacturers and distributors to automate and manage product sales, service and distribution channels over the Internet. Commerce One, for its part, creates access to worldwide markets.
Commerce One of California will make an investment in Atlanta-based NetVendor, although the financial details of the deal were not announced.
Together the two companies plan to develop strategies that focus on both sell-side and buy-side solutions, officials said, with the goal of accelerating business-to-business commerce.
NetVendor is expected to provide a real-time interface to Commerce One's e-marketplace applications, as well as to the Global Trading Web, a B2B trading community hosted by Commerce One. Plans are under way to expand the interface capabilities to include Commerce One's e-procurement and supplier applications.
With the integration of NetVendor applications with Commerce One's supplier interface, suppliers will have access to real-time pricing, availability and order status, with the ability to configure and design-to-order capabilities, according to company officials.
