In a month that has seen Commander fending off rumours of a sale, its lawyers Freehills have accidentally revealed a list of potential buyers.
After reports last week that telco Commander was up for sale, its managing director Adrian Coote confirmed to ZDNet Australia that the company had engaged the services of ABN AMRO to explore the possibilities of a sale, though he insisted that there were "no viable offers at this stage".
The sale rumours were cranked up a notch today, after an e-mail from the telco's lawyers, Freehills, revealed a list of interested buyers. According to a report in The Australian, the list included AAPT, CSG, Dimension Data and Optus.
"We have a long term relationship with Freehills, what happened today isn't going to change that," said Commander's Coote told ZDNet Australia.
"What comes out of this I can't forecast, but the rumours about a fire-sale are unfounded," he said.
Coote went on to say that it was implicit that some companies had expressed interest in acquiring Commander when they notified the ASX that they were investigating the possibilities of a sale.
"It's the obligation of the board to look at those opportunities," said Coote.
The revelation comes after Commander signed two new contracts this week worth AU$5 million and AU$23 million respectively.
