CommBank customers hit by outages

The Commonwealth Bank acknowledged its automatic teller machine (ATM) and Netbank services were down for "a couple of hours" today and conceded late in the afternoon it was yet to find the cause of the problem.

ZDNet Australia  contacted the CBA after receiving reports today from readers that they could not access the services.

A spokesman said the CBA was not sure what had happened, but said the institution was "investigating the problem".

The timing of the difficulties was slightly unfortunate for the CBA, whose senior managers today briefed the market on progress on the controversial New Which Bank efficiency program.

The CommBank ATM at Norwest Bu ...Anonymous -- 24/11/04

The CommBank ATM at Norwest Business park in Sydney is almost always out; sure all the lights are on but the card reader doesnt accept your card, or the system is "down temporarily for scheduled maintenance"- all day.

CommBank have just ripped out the old unit in the wall and replaced it with a free standing ATM- they must be sick of people calling them to report faults though as there are no phone numbers on the new one for calling CommBank and reporting the atm down.

But then what's the use anyway, CommBank would rather make the $5 charge when you use one of the other ATMs in the shopping centre anyway right?
