CommBank IT staff safe

IT staff will be unaffected by the latest round of job cuts at the Commonwealth Bank.

Despite net profit rising 11 percent to AU$2.655 billion, the Commonwealth Bank has cited an -uncertain and challenging environment" as the reason to increase the number of total staff reductions to 1,500, mostly from back office processing. The Bank had previously announced losses of up to 500 staff.

However, Commonwealth spokesperson Bryan Fitzgerald told ZDNet Australia that no IT staff would be affected.

-We outsource our IT to EDS," he said. -This doesn't impact on EDS staff at all." He confirmed there has been no change in the contract with EDS.
