CA buys 64-bit security specialist

Computer Associates International has acquired Tiny Software, a provider of desktop and server security applications for Windows systems.

Tiny's products will be swept up into CA's eTrust Integrated Threat Management package.

CA said that the Tiny deal would strengthen its anti-spyware and antispam technology. Tiny's flagship product is its recently released Tiny Firewall 64 software. The firewall was built specifically for use with machines running Microsoft's 64-bit Windows operating systems. In addition to adding Tiny's products to its eTrust security offering, CA said it would continue to market the company's wares as standalone products. Financial terms of the deal weren't disclosed.
