Intertainer Asia delivers blockbuster Hollywood and regional movies, and music videos to broadband connected homes across Asia-Pacific. It has partnerships with international entertainment providers such as Universal Studios, MGM, Jive/Zomba, Shaw Bros, Village Roadshow, Warner Music and Warner Bros Studios.
Andrew Yap, chief executive officer of Intertainer Asia, said the company is finalising discussions with an Australian telco to offer its services.
He declined to reveal the potential partner's identity but said: "We're going to sign with a carrier soon and the announcement could be made next month. Yap was speaking to ZDNet Australia at the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Intel Developer Forum in Taipei.
Singapore Telecommunications already has an alliance with Intertainer Asia but Yap refused to speculate if Optus, SingTel's subsidiary in Australia, was the candidate in question.
Other regional partnerships include Singapore Power, New Zealand Telecom, Hong Kong's PCCW and Chunghwa Telecom in Taiwan.
Yap believes Australians will welcome movies and music videos on-demand. "Unlike the conventional pay TV model, these services give consumers choice and control--programmes can be chosen and viewed as and when they please."

I hope he's done his homework. No one can afford to use streaming video if they are a subscriber of our grand and glorious T(H)elstra Broadband & it's inventive, expensive & restrictive CAPPED service. Asian user don't have to put up with the greed of a phone company like T(H)elstra.
