in brief Brisbane City Council chief information officer Tony Welsh has left his position following the expiration of his contract.
He decided to leave the council at the completion of his contract which expired last Friday 31 July, according to a spokesperson for the council. Welsh was appointed CIO in August 2003. He had previously been CIO for Queensland Rail as well as Wellington City Council.
Brisbane City Council said that it would begin a recruitment process for a new CIO shortly. Until then, Ian Maynard, the divisional manager for corporate services, would be the acting CIO.
Maynard and the leadership team of council's IT Division would also receive support from a transition program director, a new role created to help the division in the day-to-day management of its operations and critical projects.
