Blacklaw has officially quit his post as group executive for IT and operations, but "no exact date has been specified" for his departure, a BoQ spokesperson told ZDNet.com.au.

The IT chief's departure comes only six months after his appointment to the expanded role of group executive for IT and operations after serving the company for a year as CIO.

The Australian reported yesterday that Blacklaw had left the position for a lucrative offer by an unnamed Middle Eastern bank, but he was unavailable for comment today, and the bank's spokesperson would neither confirm or deny the claim, saying: "I'm not aware of any further details at this stage."

Blacklaw took over responsibilities for the bank's IT, national operations, property services and enterprise program office in September last year. It remains unclear whether the bank will attempt to appoint a new executive to the same role or seek a candidate purely to head up the its IT operations.

According to the bank's spokesperson "none of that's being discussed yet."

Blacklaw oversaw a number of significant changes in his short tenure with the bank, such as the rollout of systems to the bank's expanded network of branches last year, and migrating across the systems of the Pioneer Building Society, which BoQ acquired in December 2006.
