Australian Internet banking on the rise: Choice

A survey by the Australian Consumers Association magazine, Choice, has revealed that the use of Internet banking has almost quadrupled in three years.

Forty-five per cent of the survey's 3,804 respondents used Internet banking, compared to only 12 per cent of respondents to a similar survey conducted in 1999, Choice said, while a healthy 54 per cent used phone banking.

Unsurprisingly, younger consumers and those on higher incomes were the highest users of phone and Internet banking.

What a self fulfilling prophec ...Anonymous -- 12/11/02

What a self fulfilling prophecy. The banks reduce the number of branches, limit the number of staff in the available branches, increase the fees and charges for so called personal service and generally make it increasingly difficult to do anything else but access your accounts over the phone or the Internet. If I could possibly get away without a bank account I would, in the meantime I will do whatever I can to reduce the amount of my money that the banks want to take away from me.
