Austar promotes tech managers

PayTV and Internet specialist Austar has revamped its technology management structure, with incumbent chief information officer Dean Walters fielding a promotion.

The move, which comes as part of a wider management restructure, will see Walters add director of operations responsibility to his current role, an Austar spokesperson told ZDNet Australia this afternoon.

Walters will report to chief operations officer Dana Strong, who had previously looked after the sales and operations areas. Strong will now also take responsibility for networks, technology, employee and organisational development.

Meanwhile two other technology managers, both reporting to Walters, have also been bumped up.

Former business deployment manager Brian Matchelin is now Austar's general manager of information systems.

Information systems manager Phil Blackwell is now the general manager of technology and operations.
