Aust domain administrator warns against Open Your Mind

The .au Domain Administration has issued a warning concerning an e-mail issued by a domain services company run by the same man who was in charge of disgraced domain name reseller Internet Name Group (ING).

The unsolicited e-mail, from a company called "Open Your Mind", is titled "Consumer Advice - Internet Name Group in Administration". It reportedly offers advice to former clients of ING on renewal and management of their domain names, and offers the services of Open Your Mind in that regard.

In response, the .au Domain Administration (auDA) issued a consumer alert, warning the e-mail did not disclose a connection between ING and Open Your Mind.

"auDA believes that registrants should be aware that Open Your Mind is a company controlled by Mr Sasha Sudakov, who was a Director of ING prior to and at the time that ING was placed in administration," read the alert.

When ING went into administration it was revealed that some customers had not had their names renewed despite having paid the renewal fee to ING.

Open Your Mind offers registration services for a number of top-level and country level domain names, but does not offer facilities to register any Australian domain names. This may be to avoid the scrutiny of auDA, which requires all registrars and resellers of .au domains to sign a contract abiding by the industry Code of Practice.

Sudakov refused to comment on any matter when contacted by ZDNet Australia  .
