Aust developer tackles US market

An Australian software vendor is ramping up its presence in the US, in a bid to gain a bigger marketshare offshore.

Headquartered in Sydney, Presence Online director Adam Ginsburg has based himself in the US since last year to be closer to company partners. "It was critical to make it happen," Ginsburg said. The company focuses on the Web content management software space.

Although Presence Online will continue to carry out product development in Australia, Ginsburg said a lot of its focus would be on the US. It has 35 employees in its Chatswood-based product development team.

The company started to get a lot of demand in Asia Pacific, and then used a couple of its large clients as stepping stones into the UK and US markets, according to Ginsburg.

Presence Online has also signed a three-year global partnership with IBM, which includes joint development, as well as marketing and sales. It will be targeting sectors such as financial services, retail and manufacturing through the agreement.

Vivienne Fisher travelled to DeveloperWorks Live in San Francisco as a guest of IBM.
