The survey, conducted by the Association of Professional Engineers, Scientists and Managers, Australia (APESMA), found that the average salaries paid to Information and Communication Technology (ICT) professionals rose by an average of four percent over the 12 months to May 2002, compared to a rise of 5.9 percent for the Average Weekly Earnings over the same period.
The increase in ICT salaries was also down from the previous year's increase of 5.1 percent, and is the lowest increase recorded since the survey was first conducted in 1995.
This result follows warnings that the financial problems in the US could have an adverse affect on the Australian job market.
The lowest paid jobs in the ICT sector were for teaching and training, with an average of AU$61,405.m The highest paid jobs were in general management (AU$160,782) and sales & marketing (AU$160,717). ICT professionals with COBOL skills attracted the highest pay rates, according to the survey.
The report also found that programmers and analysts typically had skills across a range of applications, with nearly two-thirds reporting skills in five languages.

who ever is getting paid this it is rediculous and the salary should be decreased by quite a substantial amount. People that work day and night, in the heat and rain bust their **** to get a small salary, but those who sit back on their wheelie chairs doing stuff all get paid **** loads of money and i think it is wrong. fair enough if you have been working there for a while you should get paid a little more but not $160million a year thats just rediculous.
