Aussie school benefits from browser donation program

A regional Australian school has already benefited from Opera's new Global Donations Program, which provides registered versions of the Opera Internet browser for free to certain organisations.

The Armidale School, an Anglican day and boarding school in the New England region of NSW, was the first Australian organisation to take advantage of the new program.

Opera, the third most common Web browser, is supplying free registrations to organisations for the physically challenged, elementary schools and Web designer schools.

-Educational institutions all over the world, especially in developing countries, struggle to prepare their students for a career that requires computer proficiency," said Dean Kakridas, VP desktop products in a statement.

-The future of a healthy Internet is dependant on young people learning both how to get the most out of their browsing experience and exposing them to all the great software that does not always come bundled on their computer."
