Aussie have share trading in the Pocket PC

Australians now have the opportunity to trade shares online via hand-held computers, following a deal between TD Waterhouse, Vodafone and applications development company Airloom.

The user interface on the handhelds is designed to mimic the customers experience of using the online trading facility through a PC, spokesperson Peter Duvall told ZDNet Australia. The GPRS data transfer is handled by Vodafone.

-No-one in the marketplace at the moment is allowing someone to get market details, financial information, or to trade through a handheld device," he said. -The response has been quite positive."

-The application was designed to run on a Pocket PC 2002 operating system," Chris Hagios, managing director of Airloom, said in a statement. People wishing to use the service cannot use a different handheld device.

TD Waterhouse expects the financial services aspect of wireless data applications to increase by more than 300 percent by the year 2005.
