Aussie CIOs grapple with intranet issues

Australian IT managers are struggling to realise the value of corporate intranets, a survey has found.

Developer Internet Business Systems (IBS) surveyed organisations ranging in size from 50 to 500 users. It found that while the companies found value in intranets, there were issues such as getting staff to use them and keeping the information up-to-date.

David Brykman, CEO at Internet Business Systems, said that intranets were a tool which fundamentally let companies automate processes, share information and to give staff access to resources they needed to do their jobs.

-They have large investment in people and processes and the solution they've put in place, so they're very much looking for a way of getting benefits of what intranets offer, without the issues," he said.

-I think the business community in general still has to have a shift in their mindset," Brykman added.
