Asia Online sets the Opera House's sails online

Managed services provider Asia Online has recently completed the first phase of an end-to-end Internet-based management system for the Sydney Opera House.

Working in conjunction with Compaq, the company rolled out high speed links, improved redundancy and security measures. The second phase of the project will see online ticketing services rolled out before April next year.

Group product manager for connectivity and hosting at Asia Online, Hamish Goulter, said that the project had significantly improved the operations of the Sydney Opera House Web sites, and provided the venue's back office operations with improvements in speed and functionality.

-We are looking at developing an ongoing partnership with our customers so that there is some kind of continuity in their operations," Goulter said. -This is the first step towards building a comprehensive online service and we aim to maintain the level of commitment we have shown so far providing a dedicated project development team, and finishing the project on time and on budget."

According to Goulter, Asia Online's relationship with the Sydney Opera House is typical of its clients in terms of size and scope, an in keeping with its support of the arts generally.

-We also do a lot of work for the Art Gallery, and are currently in the process of rolling out their website," Goulter said.
