update Insurer Allianz Australia has re-signed CSC to manage its desktop services in an AU$8 million deal over three years.

The desktop contract is the first in a series of request-for-tenders that Allianz will put to the market as part of renegotiating its IT outsourcing. Allianz has outsourced most of its IT services to CSC for the last three years, including mainframe, network and mid-range services.

As part of the new contract, the two companies will establish a combined CSC and Allianz service desk and set-up a standard operating environment (SOE).

A CSC spokesperson said six competitors bid for the desktop services tender, but would not name the companies.

The Allianz deal is the latest in a string of major contract re-signings for CSC. In recent months the outsourcer has re-signed customers BlueScope Steel (AU$480 million) and Victorian electricity distributor Powercor-CitiPower (AU$17.8 million).
