A Sydney based company has secured a further $76 million funding deal for research and development, and, at the same time, attracted some much-needed support from corporate heavyweight Oracle.

Sydney's Access 360 has secured $76.1 million in Series C financing, which will enable the global company to invest in further research and development.

The latest round, which brings the total raised in a year to $126 million, was led by Amerindo Investment Advisors and Pivotal Asset Management. Showing confidence in the both the company and its product was further investment from Oracle and VeriSign. Crosspoint Venture Partners, which led Access' Series B rounds of funding, also took part.

Access 360 will be carrying out further development on its enRole software for a centralised point of control, -It's ongoing, although there will also be development of other parts of the business," a spokesperson told ZDNet. Brian Brannigan, regional manager for Access said, -There will be a number of R&D projects, but this includes enRole, it has a long way to go as a product."

Access' enRole allows a large business to manage the employees user access rights from a database operating system, allowing increased security and application control. Access claim one of the biggest advantages of this system is that it enables a Human Resources department to ensure everyone in a corporation has the applications they need, but also, there are no redundant programs sitting on terminals.

-As enterprises continue to manage an ever increasing number of information systems, the need to ensure that only the right people have access to the right resources continues to be mission critical," Amil Pereira, Access 360 vice president, said in a company statement.
