Accenture Australia escapes job cuts

in brief The Australian office of technology consulting company Accenture has no plans to lay off staff, despite outlining significant redundancies in its UK office in response to the global financial services crisis.

Stephen Ries, local corporate affairs lead at Accenture said there were "no planned cuts in the works at the moment" locally, despite the announcement yesterday that the company's UK office plans to axe up to 400 jobs in response to the downturn in the financial services sector.

Most of these jobs were being axed from within the systems integration and technology and analyst consulting groups within Accenture UK.

Locally, Accenture counts the Australian Taxation Office (ATO), National Australia Bank (NAB), Westpac, Telstra and the Department of Defence among its clients.

tough times for Accenture Australia Anonymous -- 15/10/08

tough times indeed but this article isn't exactly accurate. Accenture staff in Australia aren't being fired but they aren't being promoted or given salary increases which forces staff to leave because can no longer afford the rents in Sydney. but heck, at least the Accenture partners are also doing it rough. Trevor Gruzin, a senior banking partner is being forced to sell his $15 million Mosman pad. hmmm. then again, maybe he is just upgrading to a larger and even more expensive place? check it out: http://www.rwlns.com/cgi-bin/clients/rwhneu/profile_css2.cgi?clientid=rwhneu&cat=sales&propertyid=2038119

Thanks for the info, we'll follow up with Accenture and see what they have to say about this.

How bad is it going to get? Anonymnous -- 04/12/08

I'm considering an offer from Accenture Australia right now, which is internationally from where I currently live. Let's say they bring me over, what then do you think the odds are that they would axe me within a few months? Just curious...it is a real concern
