Lasseters' Corporation managing director, Peter Bridge, said in a statement issued to the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX) today the agreement with OGS gave it access to new gaming software which would allow it to target markets in South America, Asia and Europe.
Bridge declined to comment any further about which languages would be offered under the Lasseters' brand. However, he said any new offerings would most likely be trialled on some smaller sites in a couple of months' time before being migrated to the main Lasseters' site.
The agreement is also expected to save Lasseters' AU$1 million per year.
Bridge said "the FIRE software means we can now integrate multi-lingual casino sites into our online casino operations, vastly improving our offering to the international marketplace".
Lasseters' said in a statement it had given notice to terminate its agreement with AGS. Bridge said to the best of his knowledge, AGS had no multi-lingual capabilities within its software.
The online casino recently recorded a maiden annual profit -- of AU$320,485 -- for the year to 30 June. The profit came from turnover of AU$463.8 million and revenue of AU$18.4 million.
The casino, first launched in 1998, is the first physical casino to offer Internet-based cash gaming in a regulated environment. The Northern Territory government provides the regulation and monitoring.
