AU$75 million contract bundle one short for ASG

Systems integrator ASG Group has announced that it has won AU$75 million in new services contracts over recent months, but its longstanding arrangement with the ACCC remains unresolved.

ASG Group revealed late last week that it had won a string of multi-year, multi-million dollar deals with a range of new and existing clients, including a three-year contract for the provision of project services to the West Australian Department of Corrective Services, which will see the company working to develop some applications for the Department as well as providing managed services.

ASG will also be working in partnership with Dell, as part of its desktop and server contract with the CSIRO, to provide IT support services.

The Perth-based company has also won a contract with Virgin Blue to provide its Oracle services and with construction giant Multiplex for the provision of Oracle and general IT support.

Geoff Lewis, managing director of ASG, said that about a third of the AU$75 million contracts round-up comes from additional services and extensions to existing arrangements, such as the company's relationship with Ericsson/Hatch.

"That's a particular instance where the contract has been varied for us to provide more services," Lewis told ZDNet.com.au today, saying that ASG now provides managed services for Ericsson as well ongoing support for its Microsoft platform.

"All of these contracts have come to us over the last four to five months," said Lewis.

ASG's announcement comes after it was reported in December last year that the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission — another of ASG's government customers — had issued a new approach to market for its IT services management and support.

The consumer watchdog released a statement accompanying the tender which said it is seeking "a more flexible instrument for the management of its ICT environment".

ASG confirmed at the time its intention to re-tender for the contract, with managing director Lewis confirming today that the company had submitted its tender along with a proposed expansion of its services to the consumer authority.

"We've put in a bid that hopefully will fit their requirement. They've been happy with our services so far, so hopefully it will be successful, but until you have word you just don't know," said Lewis.
