The Film Victoria Digital Media Fund programmes will provide internships at leading digital effects companies, grants to produce music video clips for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, seed funding for commercially viable animation concepts created for digital television or broadband delivery, development funding for creative content from new and established producers, and a series of functions and forums to explore the synergies between the traditional media and multimedia communities.
To be eligible for an internship, an applicant must be a permanent resident of Victoria, and either a recent graduate of a recognised course in a relevant area or a practitioner with related work experience in the film, television or multimedia production industries.
Funding for animation concept development is available for traditional and software-generated projects from Victorian-based producers and animators. According to the guidelines, "projects that contain an element of interactivity for exhibition across a range of platforms such as free to air, online (including broadband) and enhanced interactive TV will be highly regarded." Money provided under this scheme must be repaid when the concept is commercialised.
"We see a great deal of potential for convergence and increased opportunities between the Victorian multimedia industry and the film and television industry. Cross-platform content creation is blurring the boundaries of the traditional and new media, and demanding that practitioners from both sectors engage with each other," said Sandra Sdraulig, CEO of Film Victoria.
The funds are available until 30 June 2004.
