ASG wins $2m Oracle contract with ACT government

Perth IT integrations company ASG Group has won a contract to consolidate nine separate instances of Oracle financial applications across 12 separate ACT government agencies into one platform.

Currently the ACT government agencies are running separate instances of version 11.5.9 of Oracle's financial applications suite. The consolidated platform will run version 11.5.10.2.

The project will benefit the ACT government Shared Services Centre, which provides different services to government agencies such as financial reporting, auditing and procurement. Its employees will be able to access financials data from the financial applications on one consolidated platform rather than over nine separate instances.

The contract will first encompass development and testing of the system, which will cost an estimated AU$2 million. The deadline for delivery is 1 July 2008, after which the government will decide if a support relationship will develop, potentially bringing the length of the engagement to two years.

The ACT government has put in a lot of thought into the desired functionality of the integrated application, according to ASG Group region manager Richard Everett. They have "invested a lot of time in making sure that they have a defined core environment," he said.

Reporting and oversight will undergo a "dramatic improvement" according to Everett. The system will also allow better budgeting and forecasting, Everett said, and the time to deliver services will be cut.

ASG Group has worked with similar projects in the past, including a contract for the Shared Services Centre for the Western Australian government.
