One of Australia's most prestigious tech management vacancies has been filled, with the ANZ Bank today announcing the appointment of former Standard Chartered operations group head Mike Grime as managing director-operations, technology and shared services.

Grime, who will report to ANZ's chief executive officer John McFarlane, replaces chief operating officer David Boyles, whose retirement takes effect from early next year.

He will move from London to Melbourne to kick off his new role in December, according to a statement from the ANZ.

Boyles originally joined the ANZ from the United States as chief information officer in January 1998.
