AFP raid Sydney Internet café

A Sydney Internet café has been raided today by the Australian Federal Police (AFP), after the cafe allegedly provided extensive access to illegal downloads of movies and music.

Interville, an Internet café in Sydney's World Square centre, was raided this morning by the AFP after having allegedly allowed large amounts of illegal downloads of music and films on its computers, according to a report in The Daily Telegraph.

At least 10 AFP agents and officers swooped on the premises this morning, executing a search warrant to inspect its dozens of computers, as well as questioning employees.

Agents examined several individual terminals in the café, as well as investigating storage shelves containing discs.

The AFP refused to comment on the raid, confirming only that officers were searching the business this morning as part of an ongoing investigation.

Interville could not be contacted for comment.

Was the reporter a witness to this raid, given the credit on that photo?

Good to see the AFP are focusing on serious federal security threats such as kids downloading movies at internet cafe's.

    Shoot to kill guys!

    You don't get it........Anonymous -- 10/01/08 (in reply to #320093039)

......... if a complaint was made (and probably was, I mean how else would they know) then they HAVE to follow up on it.

Yes, 10+ cops raiding one cafe is overkill but I think you'd find most of those guys would have been technicians.

You could argue fining people for jaywalking is a waste of Police resources too but how many of those fines would be handed out over the course of a year?, hundreds I'd bet.

    What a wasteAnonymous -- 20/03/08

I hope the AFP also raid libraries to crack down on people photocopying copyright material.
