The Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) said its information technology service will not be adversely affected by a recent cut from the broadcaster's national spending.

Earlier reports suggested that the ABC's technology division was among a number that would be impacted by in the wake of the federal government's decision to slice AU$26.1 million dollars off its budget.

It's understood that the ABC had responded to the cut by reducing funding for its news and current affairs programming and finding an extra AU$5 million in savings across the organisation.

However a spokesperson for the ABC today said that any impact on technology would be limited to minor spending cutbacks in the national broadcaster's new media division (AU$50,000).

The ABC's Internet presence also appears to have escaped impact from the budget cut unscathed. The ABC said that the portal, which was built without special government funding and attracts millions of visitors a day, remained one of the broadcasters "top priorities".
