in brief The authority which oversees Rottnest Island, near Fremantle in Western Australia, has advertised for a new chief information officer, allocating a salary of up to $88,131.

Rottnest Island is an important holiday destination, a former prison and a current wildlife preserve which attracts up to 500,000 visitors a year. It is overseen by the Rottnest Island Authority, a Fremantle-based body with approximately 117 staff.

Authority officials did not immediately return calls, and it is not known whether the position is a new one. The appointed CIO will be based in Fremantle but will travel regularly to the island, with the authority looking for an IT executive with both strategic and operational technology management experience.
