in brief Queensland-based aged care provider Blue Care has started looking for a new chief information officer to lead its overall IT operation.

Blue Care is an agency of Uniting Care, and provides services including community nursing, allied health, personal care, domestic assistance, respite and social support. According to the Blue Care website, the organisation has close to 10,000 staff and nearly 5,000 residential beds.

Blue Care chief operating officer Greg Masters said the organisation was undertaking a major refresh of its ICT infrastructure, which included a mobility system. "We're moving from having locally hosted applications to enterprise applications, with the aim of being enhanced care services," he said in a statement.

To support this overhaul, Blue Care has advertised for a new CIO who would report to Greg Masters.

A Blue Care spokesperson did not comment on whether the CIO position was a new one or whether an executive had left the organisation; however, as of late mid-2007 Paul Parkyn was named as the group's CIO in public documents.
