CSC captures AU$20 million Defence deal By Marcus Browne, ZDNet Australia October 15, 2007 URL: http://www.zdnet.com.au/news/business/soa/CSC-captures-AU-20-million-Defence-deal-/0,139023166,339282952,00.htm
in brief CSC has been awarded a AU$20 million contract by the Department of Defence as the system integrator for the Department's planned Joint Command Support Environment (JCSE). The JCSE will deliver a single integrated command support system for the Australian Defence Force, combining the existing systems from each of the individual military services and general headquarters, the Department said. CSC was awarded the contract almost a year after the ADF's project management arm, the Defence Materiel Organisation, first announced its request for tender for the project. The deal comes in a year in which the government has increased defence spending by AU$2.1 billion year on year, according to a report by the Australian Strategic Policy Institute, and represents part of an overall trend of increased defence funding that the report calls "Australia's largest military build-up since the Vietnam conflict".
