in brief Pierre Matthee has been appointed to the permanent chief information officer position at General Motors Holden, after acting in the role for the last six months. Matthee's appointment was formally announced to internal staff on 17 January this year, a spokesperson for the car maker told ZDNet Australia this morning. The executive had been acting CIO since high-flyer Julie Fahey left the job in June last year to lead KPMG's Information, Communications and Entertainment division. Matthee was Fahey's second in charge, and has been with GM Holden since he joined the company in August 2003 as a strategic program manager. GM Holden (a subsidiary of Detroit-headquartered General Motors) had some 8,200 local staff in January 2006, according to its Web site.
