Red Hat has become the second major vendor today to announce a new holder of its top job in Australia. A former senior manager from IBM's software group in Australia, Max McLaren, has been appointed general manager Australia and New Zealand of the Linux vendor. McLaren replaces Gus Robertson, who was recently promoted to an Asia-Pacific channels and alliances role. McLaren has been with IBM and Lotus for the last 12 years, most recently as regional manager of small to medium business for IBM Software. The native Zimbabwean has held sales and management roles in several countries throughout his 20 year career. "I'm looking forward to working with the local team to continue Red Hat's leadership in the Linux market and build even stronger relationships with our existing customers as well as the broader industry," he said. Robertson will remain involved in Red Hat's Australian operations in his new role as vice president, channels and alliances, Asia Pacific.
