About half the domain names included in an auction of .com.au generic names weren't allocated, and will be available on a "first come first served basis" in an upcoming auction. IT-related names were found to top the list of the most wanted when applications for eligibility to take part in the auctions were processed. At the time computers.com.au topped the list, with .au Domain Administration (auDA) receiving 76 applications for the name. Chris Disspain, CEO at auDA, said that the 1370 names which weren't allocated was due to either no one applying for those names, or no one being eligible. The generic name auction included 3006 .com.au names. Those which weren't allocated during the auction process will be listed on auDA's Web site next Tuesday morning. "The names will be available for registration on a first come, first served basis on Thursday 3 October," said Disspain in a statement about the auction. "The normal policy rules and registration process will apply." The auction process didn't go without some hiccups either. Reports highlighted glitches in the auction process for the generic domain names, with some auctions having to be reheld.
