The Bank of Queensland has outsourced its IT services to EDS in a massive 10-year, AU$480 million contract. Under the terms of the agreement, EDS will provide a comprehensive range of business and IT services to support the bank's operations, including managing all the IT operations for the Bank of Queensland and upgrading its overall IT environment. EDS will also deliver Internet banking capability that will be launched in the first half of this year, and manage the back office credit card, loan and mortgage processing, and call centre operations. "This agreement with Bank of Queensland signals a major foray into the Queensland market for EDS, and is our first regional banking client, consolidating EDS' strong position in the financial services sector in this dynamic region," EDS Australia managing director, Don Easter, said in a statement. It is expected that the 220 employees of the Bank of Queensland will transition to EDS on terms comparable to their current employment.
