Industry body, the Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA), is ramping up plans to meet with the re-elected Federal Government.

John Howard released a statement today outlining the appointments he has recommended to the Governor General. The swearing in of the Ministry is slated for November 26. Among the proposed appointments is Richard Alston, who will remain as Minister for Communications and Information Technology.

Rob Durie, AIIA executive director, said the organisation was preparing a program in order to brief government on the position of the industry, and also gain some commitment from it on key issues.

Durie said the AIIA is also hoping to follow-up on key issues which were raised during the Coalition's election campaign. In the lead-up to the election, the industry association ran a scorecard on the various parties' policies.

According to Durie, the AIIA would be focusing on issues such as presenting Australia as an attractive location for investment by local and international companies. It would also be pushing for employee share option arrangements, and skills development.
