NEC is taking its technological know how and becoming a marketing company NEC is bringing its technological know how into the marketing business to promote new companies in Japan. Auraline is a new company that has been set up by the American arm of NEC and will concentrate on direct marketing using e-mail. Auraline will provide clients with 'richmedia' direct e-mails. The company believes the new division's services will be used by clients that currently rely on traditional mail. Direct mails will use animations, sounds and other techniques to catch recipients attention. All the information collected by the mail shots will be recorded on databases as part of the service. Based at St Jose, California the 15 man operation has US$15 million in capital and will be aiming for sales of around $104 million.
