AAPUnions must demand that the 30,000 Australian Telstra workers who could be disadvantaged by the NBN Co roll-out must be included in the building of the NBN. Telstra is the logical and best equipped company to build the NBN and it is to Australias advantage that they are used. Lets hope Mr Conroy and Turnbull watch this very closely.
Report offensive content Reply (+7) (-7)What about Optus, Internode iinet etc, etc employees oh impartial [sic] one?
Report offensive content Reply (+4) (-4)(afterthought), How can pay cuts be an option if the AWARD wages and are accepted as,being what the companies invovled are estimating on,and no doubt adding in for ETS,coming any day now,+ rising fuel costs, upcoming already guarenteed wage increases, the realisation that machinery will reach end of life during the build, which will have to be replaced with the then current model complying with OH&S standards,+ rising insurance costs. Current industry pricing is not relavant to estimating costs for the future viability of any business, pay cuts cannot happen.
Report offensive content Reply (+1) (-3)HOORAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks speaking out
finally someone who knows
That is certainly one scenario...
The other is, they preyed upon the oppositions of governmental fiscal incompetence (now shown incorrect) and ALL wanted to make 5 years profits p.a. and thought they'd get away with it...
Did someone say collusion?
I agree on this. For 14 responses to all be too expensive, I'd say an attempt at price fixing is taking place.
Report offensive content Reply (0) (-1)claims = missing word..!
Report offensive content Reply (0) (-1)Clarification - I'm certainly NOT supporting wage cuts for average Aussies (yes - I am one too). The sole reason I support the NBN is the advantages for ALL (average) Aussies. My point is the Contractors may have been a little presumptuous in the amount of "profit" they could pocket from a wayward government, whilst paying the poor old average Aussie, minimal wage...!
Report offensive content Reply (+3) (-1)a pit & pipe labourer gets approx, $20 p/hr on casual rate. would you work for less ?
Report offensive content Reply (+1) (0)Most people have left the Telco industry because you can't make any money. An example is a contractor would be paid $200 for two people all day. $100 a person to dig a whole in concrete. Not worth it. Now the Government wants it cheaper LOL. Good luck!!!
Report offensive content Reply (0) (0)How much an hour are the workers charging, ie, even labourers??? i bet none of them are on under twenty dollars an hour for starters.
