Macquarie Telecom posted a net profit of just under $18 million for the full year, up from $7.45 million in the previous year. Overall, the results point to a 70.8 per cent increase in net profit for the year.

The hosting arm of the business contributed $44.5 million in revenue for 2009/10. The telco said it recognised that mission critical data hosting was a high-growth industry in Australia.

The company also attributed its positive growth to strong performance in the telecommunications space, delivering $20.3 million to the business' bottom line.

Chief executive David Tudehope said that "record full year sales orders and strong growth in revenue and EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation) further solidifies Macquarie Telecom's market leading position in the mission critical hosting market".

Macquarie Telecom has been working to improve its customer service record, bringing a critical contact centre back onshore in February.

The 'insourcing' move reportedly stemmed from an increasingly negative customer sentiment towards Macquarie's service standards.

"The successful launch of our world class contact centre facility in Sydney, the 'MacquarieHUB'...will maintain our focus on customer care as a key differentiator," Tudehope said.
