Lotus Notes / Domino is one of the most advanced
Lotus Notes / Domino is one of the most advanced and popular collaboration suites and perfect fit for custom applications. Its superior workflow capabilities allow the end user to receive greater benefits and a better productivity. The interface is a little clunky and I can see the attraction to exchanges easier user interface, however I am a firm believer that Lotus Notes / Domino, is a superior product to Exchange. It should be fact that its ability to work offline and replication / synchronisation capabilities are a lot better than exchange. The security of Lotus Notes is a lot tighter too and is less susceptible to viruses from my experience with the product.
2 years and im still a firm believer in Lotus Notes..
After searching on "Lotus Notes Development", in Google, I am now looking at the same article I was two years ago.. As far as it being a good article that has generated allot of talkback, I think it maintains its position because it is still such a hot topic for CIO's and IT Departments in the workplace. From what I have seen in the workplace over the years anyone that has moved to Exchange ends up missing what Lotus Notes has had to offer. Its user interface is still very much the same however IBM have continued to innovate the product and I have seen some extremely innovative web and notes based applications written on the platform that adhere to the latest standards. When you also have you mailbox and calendar tied into these applications you have a product that is far superior to Exchange on many levels. As a 10 year old developer I am still yet to find anything in Exchange that I cannot develop in Lotus Notes. When you include the added security, stability of the platform and replication capabilities it is a product that still stands out.
