The Northern Territory's Power and Water Corporation has started the search for a chief information officer (CIO) to help it provide IT in "some of the harshest conditions on the planet".
The "business-focused" CIO would be based in Darwin and be offered $168,351 for their services developing the utility's IT environment. The chosen executive could be offered a contract lasting up to four years.
The candidate was to be responsible for IT strategy and operations while keeping an eye on IT projects, contracts, service delivery and risk management.
The 700-strong company didn't sugar coat the opportunity, pointing out the difficult conditions it operated in. "More than 30,000 lightning strikes every year and torrential rain in the north, heat that can take the paint off cars in the south and plenty of tough country in between," the job advertisement said as its first words.
The CIO would need to provide for growth, given that the company intended to spend over $1 billion over the next five years.
