NSW Health CIO seconded to shared services

in brief NSW Health chief information officer Mike Rillstone has been appointed the chief executive of the department's shared services area, Health Support Services, while a formal recruitment process is undertaken to fill the position.

A spokesperson for NSW Health said the move was a six-month secondment starting 1 June to cover the department while it sought a new head for the shared services division. The role had become empty as after the transfer of former chief executive John Roach. Roach has become the department's chief financial officer after the incumbent, Ken Barker, retired.

Deputy CIO Craig Smith has become the acting CIO, leading the strategic information management branch of NSW Health in Rillstone's place.

Rillstone was appointed in 2005 from his position of chief advisor information technology at the NZ Ministry of Health.
