Mercedes-Benz seeks hotshot CIO

in brief The Australian division of German car giant Mercedes-Benz has kicked off the search for a new chief information officer to lead all of its IT-related activities locally and in New Zealand.

The appointed executive will be based in the company's head office in Melbourne and will report to its regional head of IT management. They will play a key role in not only designing the company's local IT strategy, but also getting their hands dirty with IT projects, according to advertisements recently placed.

Mercedes-Benz is looking for a candidate with university-level IT qualifications, along with leadership experience and expertise with what the company called "different application and infrastructure right-sourcing models".

The company did not immediately return calls asking for comment on the matter, and it remains unclear if the position is a new one or if an executive is departing the role.
