The number of ICT job advertisements increased by a -robust" 44.4 per cent in the first half of 2004, according to a report released by the IT Skills Hub on Tuesday.

The organisation's biannual Market Monitor, a joint venture with Gottliebsen Research, showed a -strong, across the board industry recovery in the last six months", according to Brian Donovan, IT Skills Hub CEO in a statement released by the company.

The report claims demand for IT professionals continues an upward trend established from a previous report, which showed an 18.7 per cent rise in the number of advertisements. Bolstered by investment in the ICT industry, the positive trend is expected to continue into the third quarter of 2004.

Although every job category showed a healthy increase, project management roles were highest in demand, increasing 65 per cent on the previous six months. Other areas experiencing strong demand included analyst, support, IT management, quality and technical roles.

For the first time in five years, all ICT positions reported significant growth, with Test Engineers, Installers, Implementers and Project Managers being among the highest performing positions.

Donovan predicted the competition for "people and skills" will continue to increase in the next six months.

The sector maybe turning toward normality, companies are complaining that they cannot get the skills they require but it could be because money has to be spent on people again.

I do agree with you but only the demand is for experienced personal not for graduate or fresh from the university. I think the major problem getting jobs is due to the middle organization called (Employment Agencies) and also all organization doesn’t want to spend time and resources to train youth they just want things to happen overnight. They are looking for someone out of this world with exceptional talent and. No one ever asked a question is they (Employment consultant) are qualified to judge others and give their opinion. I am not against with such traders. I do understand the there is larger competition for firm and hard to spend extra money for a recruitment sourcing internally. As outsourcing their employment needs might be getting good candidates and saving extra money. But on what cost no one know yet. I am firm believer if you can't do your own job then no one else will do for you. Now I understand why majority of youth do not want to go to university because university degree has no value, as there are other institutes those driving their own course design and suitable for workplace. It is better to p**** higher education and study CISCO at home and p**** and get a job. Instead of spending money, time and age to study in the Universities. This is just my own views and not in race with anyone.
