Take control of the Aussie job search race By Monica Marion, ZDNet Tech Jobs November 05, 2001 URL: http://www.zdnet.com.au/jobs/news_trends/soa/Take-control-of-the-Aussie-job-search-race/0,130056653,120261659,00.htm
There are so many different job search Internet sites out there, but the bottom line is if you don't keep looking left, right and centre, you won't end up getting the job you're after. To get ahead in the career stakes these days, not only do you have to compete with fellow employees and further your own learning via training, you also have to keep on the lookout for positions in the ultra-competitive Australian employment race. For your convenience, Web sites such as CareerOne.com.au, Monster.com.au, Seek.com.au and JobNet.com.au have made it easy for job seekers to search for existing employment positions. But really you can't stop there, and that's where these Web sites leave you. Yes you can apply online, send out your resume and letter to these agencies, but what you really want is to hear back from them, and this is usually at a low rate at the moment. Your best bet these days is to not only apply for several positions at the same time, but you should also take down as many numbers as you can along the way and give potential employers a direct call in order to receive a direct response.
