InterSystems hits HealthSMART goal

E-health software provider InterSystems today revealed it had completed the initial deployment of its TrakCare platform to some 22 community health agencies in Victoria as part of the $360 million HealthSMART project.

HealthSMART began as a four-year, $320 million project to update IT systems in hospitals and other medical facilities right across Victoria, but has encountered deadline and budget problems.

"The first community health agencies went live with TrakCare in early 2007," a statement issued by the company today said, "with InterSystems committing to complete the initial implementation at the remaining agencies by the end of 2009."

The company claimed some of the benefits from the roll-out were electronic referral of patients, which would allow the combined 3600 staff using the system to better share patient information.

""For the first time hundreds of community health staff in each of the 22 agencies are able to manage their clients through a central case management system that removes duplication, enhances efficiency and removes the need for both staff and clients to repeatedly enter and supply their demographic information and past clinical history," said Darren Jones, InterSystems director for worldwide markets, TrakCare.
