You've got the budget nutted out for the next 12 months and have completed forward estimates for the next couple of years. Likewise, planning is in place on the projects your department will be undertaking and the timeframes for these are set.

As a manager, sometimes concern for others and meeting the organisation's business objectives can lead to you neglecting your own career progression.
Part of a CIO or IT manager's role is to help the staff who report to them in their career progression -in part, being a mentor and aiding these IT professionals in deciding which direction to they want to move in. Yet it's easy to forget your own personal goals and objectives when looking after a team, particularly if it's a sizeable one. Who looks after the manager when they're too busy looking after everyone else?
