Nice computer but can it fry an egg?

One gastronomically-minded techie has taken computing to new heights by equipping his system to cook while he works, using nothing more than the heat generated by his high-tech box of tricks.

Using little more than a sheet of kitchen foil, one egg and a pocketful of coins, the pioneering tech-chef, who calls himself Trubador, cooked himself a tasty snack in minutes.

The coins are used as a heat sink and sit on the CPU to create an ad hoc hob. The foil is then used to make a 'frying pan' into which the egg is cracked. During the next 11 minutes the CPU generated enough heat to provide a nice fried egg which, in Trubador's own words, "tasted as good as one cooked in a pan".

For his next experiment Trubador plans to rustle himself up some bacon to go with his eggs.

To read more about the methodology of this frankly bizarre experiment and to see what kind of spec you would need to copy Trubador's foray into tech-cuisine, visit: www.handyscripts.co.uk/egg.asp
